2007 Announcement from SCVB Managing Director Jon Hutchison

Dear SCVB Member,

After a great deal of consideration, the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau has decided it is time for Sydney on Sale to evolve to a national events exhibition, to be called the Australian Events Expo.

We believe this move is in the best interest of our members as it will deliver a range of new benefits that will help you build your business further.

Sydney is Australia's leading city and the country's gateway to the world, so it is a natural progression for a show based in our city to become a national event.

It is also a timely development, as competing shows are now positioning to take a national stance. The SCVB's failure to act would mean a lost opportunity for our members.

As you would appreciate, the success of any trade show is determined by the quality and quantity of the buyers it attracts. We believe the development of Sydney on Sale into a national show is the best way to build our buyer numbers as well as their level.

The new Australian Events Expo will feature a broader range of exhibitors than Sydney on Sale, so will attract more visitors from Sydney as well as interstate.

It will also be supported by an extensive hosted buyer program, which will bring top interstate corporate buyers to Sydney for the show.

This means you will be able to promote your products and services to a much larger audience, creating more opportunities to write new business.

The Expo, which will be managed by ETF, will also include more features designed to boost exhibitors' business, such as a more extensive pre-scheduled appointment program.

Rest assured that Sydney will not lose its identity in our new national expo. As the nation's business events capital, our city will always be the focal point of the show, to the benefit of our members.

We look forward to welcoming you to the first Australian Events Expo at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday May 16 and Thursday May 17, 2007.

Yours sincerely

Jon Hutchison

Managing Director
